what is the difference between vpn and proxy?

VPN is a link between two private networks, which are usually connected through the Internet. The link is secured so that no one can easily eavesdrop or alter the traffic. This is why the VPN is said to be private.VPN is a network which is developed to provide access to remote offices or individual users by using secure mode connection within an organization’s network. VPN is used by the companies who have different setups of their offices in different geographical regions. VPN is basically a private network which lets users to connect to other users or remote sites using a public network usually internet. In short, it is private network constructed within a public network infrastructure, such as the global Internet. This leads to get optimal result with less cost. To gain access to different portals of organization VPN tunnel is created, from which all the data will transmitted and receive using Encryption methods, meanwhile we can also grant access to blocked site within organization like Facebook, YouTube & Twitter. By taking this as advantage we can use VPN to unlock lots of blocked services even they are HTTPS, like proxy it allow us to surf secretly.

Proxy is basically just forwards the internet to your computer, also giving you a different IP which usually can't get linked to your real IP and therefore your identity. VPNs are private means they are only available for registered users; making it faster for everyone because the admin can watch the usage of a VPN server and can in case of need easily add another server to the network. Since you are paying for a VPN service, you can expect it to be always working. The traffic between your computer and the VPN server is highly encrypted. Technically, the VPN protocol encapsulates network data transfers using a secure cryptographic method between two or more networked devices which are not on the same private network, to keep the data private as it passes through the connecting nodes of a local or wide area network. The VPN can be used to send any kind of network traffic securely, including voice, video or data.
